Old Pueblo Masonry
Old Pueblo Masonry in Tucson, AZ is a long established masonry company that receives the majority of their business through their website. During the consultation, it was decided to redesign their old website in order to achieve several business goals.
The goals of the redesign were to make the website more visually appealing, easier to update (the client wanted to be able to update and add/change site elements in house), improve on SEO, while still maintaining a small business ownership look and feel.
The website uses slideshows extensively to showcase the client's work in addition to large photo galleries. The navigation menu was moved to the top, with easy pull-down menus and clear descriptive titles to enable viewers to find out about various masonry possibilities. To increase business in specific areas (patio pavers) and improve keyword search (retaining walls), areas of expertise were given their own pages to highlight the work and make it easier to find via search engines.
The success of the website was/is astounding! Traffic picked up dramatically within 3 weeks and the keyword optimization drove specific types of business to the client. The success included increasing site visitors 150%.
The website attained the #1 spot on Google Search for 21 different keywords and/or phrases in less than 3 months. The client has stated they receive many compliments on the website from visitors.
Joyful Hearts Yoga
Joyful Hearts Yoga in Tucson, AZ needed a website redesign to make their site more visually appealing, easier to navigate, a build that could adapt to their rapid growth, and SEO optimization ongoing.
They had previously hired two other web designers/SEO experts in the past year, but still were not getting the SEO results and visitors they wanted. The site was not easy for users to navigate, or for the client to update. In addition, the use of photos in the background and typeface interfered with the visual aspects rather than complimenting them. This created a confusing brand identity.
A deeper SEO analysis found very poor quality backlinks (which hurt SEO), too few high quality backlinks, lack of an XML sitemap and few submissions to major business directories (which help SEO). All of these issues were addressed with the new design.
The new website was built on an easy-to-use platform, enabling the client or anyone assigned to make changes and updates ongoing. Keyword optimization was built into the site on the front and back end, so on-page and off-page SEO became a priority. An ongoing SEO strategic plan was built into the site, which includes social media and frequent updates, making the site very dynamic. Within 60 days, the site reached the front page positioning for the first time with no other SEO plan currently in place beyond the changes to the website. With added SEO strategies, the site should continue to move up in Google positioning.
Car Free Tucson
Car Free Tucson is an event sponsored by PAG (Pima Association of Governments). In late 2012, they held a contest to encourage alternative modes of transportation in Tucson.
This website, including all the story content and photos, was written, designed and developed in less than 24 hours using a platform never tried before and a preset theme. While a business or organization would want more SEO and other features which would take longer to build, it is a good illustration of what you can accomplish in less than 24 hours with the right software and creativity.
The focus for the website was on humor and whimsy to get across the message. The story is told from the perspective of a cat, who documents her adventures during her days going "car free" in Tucson. A photo gallery uses artistic photos to help document that journey. It is a very simple, 3-page site. The focus was on the written content, complimented with photos.
The website won first prize in the contest for the creativity. Websites can serve all kinds of purposes!
